Split Shift or Spread of Hours • For each workday that a shift or shifts go over 10 hours, the employer must pay an “extra” hour of pay, also known as the spread of hours pay. You can manually select the point when the calculator begins counting your work hours as overtime — after 8h/day, 40h/week, or custom. Any extra amount you make over and above the minimum wage calculation counts against the “split shift bonus hour”.
